American Plastic Molding Corp. (APMC) is based in Southern Indiana about 45 minutes north of Louisville, Kentucky and offers custom injection molding. They also have their own tool shop (Southern Mold & Tool) on the property and within APMC. As an ESOP company, they are 100% employee owned by their 115 employees.

Challenge

Previously, prior to adopting the OurPeople platform, APMC were mainly communicating by email and in-house postings. Unfortunately, even though they had a dedicated employee communications board, some employees did not pay attention to it and would miss out on important updates.

Realising this wasn’t helping build the business, the management team decided to research other employee engagement and communication platforms. Through this research they discovered OurPeople.

Companywide Reach

Since installing the platform companywide they have utilized Broadcasts, Smartforms, the chat feature to communicate with the training team, and files to upload important information that pertains to all employees.

All employees have been encouraged to use the app, but it does seem to reach their entry-level employees more than management. The HR department also utilizes the app and its features the most.

Greater Communication and Employee Engagement

It has helped immensely with communication throughout the company, especially when using the Broadcast and Smartform functions. It has also allowed them to receive feedback from employees through surveys which has led to APMC refining processes and standards as well as being proactive with complaints and concerns.

Since using the OurPeople platform, APMC has been able to address employee concerns that weren’t being communicated before using the survey feature, their communication has improved, people have easier access to important documents/information, and employee engagement has improved.

User-friendly Functionality

They find it simple to use, even for those that aren’t technologically skilled. Sending out fun and colourful broadcasts, that are easy to navigate and can be interactive with ratings and questionnaires, has been an eye-opener. Its user-friendly functionality extends to both the administrative side and the user side of the platform.
