Challenge

Using a communications platform was not new to the team at Forbes of Kingennie Resort. Previously they had a scheduling platform that allowed documents to be uploaded, requests to be scheduled and a chat function enabled. It was only when they took part in a Scottish government backed project alongside Travel Tech that they elevated their communications strategy. The project was aimed at identifying how technology could improve staff retention and recruitment. The industry was still reeling from the aftereffects of the pandemic and the ensuing recruitment crisis.

Solution

The management team were aware their employees had specifically asked for better communication from them. Travel Tech supported this request and OurPeople was identified as the ideal platform for Forbes of Kingennie Resort to try. Since integrating the OurPeople platform they have already started using the Chat and Broadcast functions extensively. They are also now, after the busy summer period and before they get into the Christmas season, starting to upload key documents such as the team handbook to make them readily available for all staff members. Everyone across the company uses OurPeople on a regular basis. Managers are using it to communicate to their teams and staff are using it to communicate with each other. Company-wide the most used feature is the Chat function. It allows the teams to communicate with each other during and after shifts. Although they launched the platform during their busiest time, they are now driving it forward and the benefits to the company are clear to see.
